The fact that we have obtained the ISO 14001 label is a demonstration of our approach, and of our implementation of environmental management systems which contribute to the essential environmental goal of sustainable development.
In 2013 Berthod Transports SA won the special jury award at
Valais excellence certification, a crowning recognition of our environmental policy. This is expressed, for example, in the wish to reduce our speed by 3 km/h… to economise 3 litres per 100 km without any loss of productivity.
In practical terms, we used the geolocation system very early. This constantly controls our vehicles’ routes, and ensures that there is no superfluous use of fuel or driving of superfluous kilometres.
Secondly, almost all our lorry fleet complies with the Euro 6 standard, strongly limiting carbon dioxide emissions.
At Berthod Transports SA we have understood that the best years of mechanics are yet to come. The vehicles are still far from being bristling with technologies which will allow driverless transport, and come what may the mechanics, whatever energy may be used to operate it, will always be present and essential. Breakdowns and accidents must be prevented at all costs, in order to accomplish our missions under satisfactory conditions, to guarantee delivery times and to ensure the safety of other road-users. This is the serious responsibility which our mechanics shop takes on.
Anyone who works in a constantly changing technological world must remain vigilant. One of our responsibilities is continually to obtain information, and learn, about progress, changes of all kinds, but essentially economic, legal and technological ones. As part of this process, Berthod Transports SA is establishing internally a series of training themes to ensure that all personnel are up-to-date in their respective fields.
